One of the great things about living in Halton is the many local farms and markets that offer us amazing food, activities and goods for every season of the year. Fall is a fun time of the year for my family. My grandchildren are excited about pumpkin carving and the telltale signs that Thanksgiving and Halloween are just around the corner. From apples, pumpkins and squash to pick-your-own, hayrides, corn mazes and much more, Halton farms have so much to offer this time of year. There is always something to explore for people of all ages!

Our local agricultural community is an important contributor to Halton’s economy. The agriculture and food sector is responsible for approximately 24 per cent of employment in Halton Region. Shopping local helps keep farms in business, creates local jobs, and is an environmentally sustainable option that reduces energy consumption for transportation, processing and packaging. When you shop local, you are not just purchasing goods; you are making a positive impact in your community.

Our Simply Local online map is an easy and convenient way to learn about what local farms across Halton have to offer. You can also use it to plan your next agricultural adventure and to connect with local food producers to pick-your-own fruits and vegetables and visit one of our many garden centres, ranches, stables and equestrian centres.

By supporting our local farms and agricultural community, we help keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
