Reducing waste is always a community effort. This year, your annual waste collection schedule is available online. By not printing 180,000 waste calendars this year, we are offsetting over 14 tonnes of paper!
Your pick-up day for 2024 is the same as 2023. You can go to halton.ca/waste now to get your 2024 schedule and sign up for our email reminders so you always know what is being picked up each week.
If you still need a print copy of your waste calendar you can download a one-page schedule online or you can request one by mail by calling 311. Print delivery will be available by mid-December.
Some holiday waste reminders
Around the holidays, we tend to produce more waste. Please make sure you are putting waste in its proper place, by using our Blue Box, Green Cart, and garbage programs properly. Here are some other tips to reduce your household waste over the holidays:
Use household materials to wrap gifts, such as newspaper, brown packing paper, fabric or cookie tins.
Reuse wrapping paper, gift bags and bows.
Bring a reusable bag for holiday shopping.
Use tissue paper free of tape and glitter, and put it in the Green Cart.
Remember! Christmas tree pick-up starts the second week of January for two weeks. Make sure they are free of decorations and are visible to our collection crews. Thanks to everyone for participating in our waste programs! All actions – big or small – make an impact when it comes to the environment. By embracing these small changes, we can keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
