Regional Chair Gary Carr: Support Halton’s vibrant farming community

Jun 14, 2024

Farms and businesses are a key part of the region’s economy.

Agriculture provides jobs, tourism opportunities and vital food and products for people to enjoy. From food on our tables to flowers in our gardens and activities with the family, farms and agri-businesses are an important part of our everyday lives.

Buying local is a great way to meet farmers, support small businesses and provide your family with high-quality food and experiences right here in Halton. It’s also an opportunity to learn about what’s in season. You can pick-your-own strawberries in mid-June, pick up local peaches and blueberries at a local farmers’ market in August, or enjoy fresh baked goods or unique products like sheep’s milk all year long.

Our interactive Simply Local map is a quick and easy way to find farms near you. You can also use map filters to find farms with specific products, activities and more, making it easy to plan your agri-venture right from your phone.
