Earlier today at Regional Council, we marked Halton Region's 50th anniversary! For 50 years, Halton Region has consistently provided high-quality programs and services that positively impact our community and contribute to a better future for all.

We support people and businesses with essential services, from clean drinking water to resilient infrastructure and public health programs, financial assistance and family supports. You can rely on us to deliver essential services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As one of the fastest growing communities in Canada, we are committed to delivering high-quality services in an efficient and cost-effective way to give you the best value for taxpayer dollars. Our responsible approach to financial planning for programs, services and infrastructure has kept tax rate increases as low as possible and earned us top credit ratings from S&P Global Ratings (AAA) since 2002 and Moody’s Investors Service for more than 30 years.

We have experienced many changes over 50 years but today we remain committed to service excellence working together and with our partners to deliver the best services possible. We are building important relationships with Indigenous Peoples and Communities and are working to ensure our programs and services actively support equity, diversity, and inclusion. We are hard at work each day on projects that support housing, growth and infrastructure, community safety, and climate change just to name a few.

I’m so proud to share that our Region is what it is today because of the history that we’ve built together. Here is a quick video clip of some of our key milestones over 50 years:

Our success is the result of our dedication to continuously improving the way we serve this community. Because of this strong foundation, I know that Halton will continue to thrive for many generations to come.

I’d like to thank Regional Council and our dedicated staff who have worked to make Halton Region a leader in service excellence leader for 50 years. By working together, we keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
