Help your child adapt to big school transitions.

Halton Region recognizes that your child’s transition to kindergarten and high school can be especially difficult to navigate as a parent or guardian. Our Preparing for Kindergarten webpage and Transition to High School webpage offers access to community supports and programs as well as helpful information and resources to help you navigate and support your child’s journey through their new learning environment.

Learn ways to improve your child’s health.

Based on the Ministry of Education's Foundations for a Healthy School Framework (external link) we work to provide valuable information and supports to help improve the health of children and youth at school. We consider a wide range of health topics including bullying prevention, inclusion, promoting positive mental health, healthy eating and much more.

Stay up-to-date with immunizations and easily report them online.

We know parents and guardians have questions about vaccines for children attending school. Halton Region Public Health is here to support you and your family with information about how vaccines can help to prevent disease and keep our community healthy. Each time your child receives an immunization from your healthcare provider, parents and guardians can easily report immunizations using our online immunization reporting system. To report immunizations and find more information, visit halton.ca/immunize.

Check out our School Years Program webpage for additional information from our Public Health team about initiatives that can help keep children and youth safe and healthy at school.

As always – please drive safely in school zones and across the community. Watch for stopped buses, and children walking and cycling to school. Keeping our kids safe is a shared and top priority!

By working together to promote a high quality of life for our school community, we help keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
