I am pleased to share that more priority populations identified in the Province’s vaccine distribution plan (external link) can now book their vaccination appointments in Halton. We continue to follow Provincial direction on prioritization and will keep opening up appointments to our community as supplies are made available from the Federal and Provincial governments.

The following groups can now quickly and easily schedule an appointment through our online booking system:

• Individuals (18 years of age and older) with highest-risk (external PDF) and high-risk (external PDF) health conditions and one essential caregiver;
• Essential workers (18 years of age and older) who cannot work from home (Group 1 as identified by the Province (external PDF));
  • Please note: essential workers must bring a completed COVID-19 Proof of Employment Attestation Form to their appointment, confirming they are currently eligible based on the Province of Ontario eligibility guidelines for Group 1 (external PDF).
• Adults 50+ in an identified hot spot area (the L9E postal code area in Milton); and
• Remaining health care workers who live or work in Halton and cannot work from home.

Eligible residents can book appointments at any one of our Vaccination Clinics located in each of our municipalities and there are now 32 pharmacy locations (external link) across Halton offering the AstraZeneca vaccine, providing more options for eligible residents 55+ to gain protection from COVID-19 as soon as possible.

If you know someone who is eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccine, please share this information or help someone book their appointment online. Our 311 service is also available to those who require booking support, but please only call if you are currently eligible so we can ensure residents who require this service have access. The availability of appointments is contingent on supply.

Follow public health measures and keep each other safe

With COVID-19 cases and variants of concern increasing in Halton and across the province, I want to again urge residents to not let their guards down and to continue following public health measures. This includes staying home, except for essential trips and avoiding all gatherings. Our collective actions can help reduce the severity of this third wave and ease the pressure on our healthcare and frontline workers who have been making significant sacrifices to help protect our community throughout the pandemic.

This has been a difficult year for our community, but if we all keep following public health direction and get vaccinated when it is our turn, we will keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire…and keep each other safe.
