The Committee

The Inter-Municipal Advisory Committee on Sustainability (IMACS) has a mandate to provide leadership in guiding sustainability in Halton, facilitate the coordination of best practices, and identify emerging sustainability initiatives in Halton.

The Committee’s work is intended to advance sustainability initiatives in the Region including providing direction on the development of a decision-making "Sustainability Lens" for Halton Region, as well as supporting the mandates of local committees.

The membership of the committee is unique, consisting of representation from elected regional and local councillors, senior staff from all member municipalities, and citizen representatives from each of the local municipalities.

2010 Best Sustainability Practices

One of the Committee’s first tasks was to:

  • profile current best sustainability practices in Halton municipalities
  • identify best practices from elsewhere
