Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program

The new Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP) is a government-funded dental care program. It provides free, routine dental services for low-income residents who are 65 years of age or older. Learn more about this program below.

Who is eligible for the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program?

To be eligible for the Dental Care Program you must:

  • be 65 years of age or older;
  • be a resident of Ontario;
  • have no other form of dental benefits; and
  • meet the income requirements.

What services are covered?

  • Examinations and assessments
  • Preventative services
  • Restorative services to repair broken teeth and cavities
  • X-rays
  • Oral surgery to remove teeth or abnormal tissue
  • Anesthesia

There is an annual per-client maximum for dental services.

Who provides services?

  • Halton Region partners with local dental providers (such as dentists and oral surgeons) to provide OSDCP services to clients.
  • Numerous dental providers are located in all Halton municipalities.

How do I apply?

Online:

  1. Visit www.ontario.ca/SeniorsDental and select the 'apply online' button.
  2. Complete the online application form.
  3. Print and sign the Consent form.
  4. Mail the Consent form to:

What happens if I’m approved?

If you are approved for the program you will be mailed a welcome package and a dental card.

OSDCP coverage renews on August 1 each year. Cardholders will get a notice in the mail about OSDCP renewal. For more information visit www.ontario.ca/seniors/dental (external link) under the ‘Renew your yearly coverage’ section.

I have a valid OSDCP card, how do I access dental care in Halton?

  • To begin, call 311.
  • Please note there is a waitlist for services under the Provincial program.
  • Wait times may fluctuate based on:
    • urgency
    • municipality
    • volume of clients
  • The most urgent cases are seen first.
